On 30 October 2025, the VII International Scientific and Practical Conference “Harmonisation of the Ukrainian Education System with the European Education Area: Achievements, Challenges and Prospects” took place. The event was held within the framework of the European educational network “Eurydice” project – “Eurydice Ukraine: Improving Education Accessibility” (EU-IEA), supported by the European Commission, and hosted by the National Eurydice Unit in Ukraine – the State Scientific Institution “Institute of Educational Analytics” (SSI “IEA”).

The conference was intended to deepen professional dialogue among the educational and scientific community on issues related to the integration of Ukrainian education into the European Education Area.
Among the key topics were the harmonisation of education policy, ensuring access to education, digitalisation, innovative development and international cooperation. Other relevant aspects of the transformation of education in the context of wartime challenges and post-war recovery were also discussed.

The event opened with welcoming remarks from Doctor of Economics, Professor, First Deputy Director for Research of SSI “IEA”, Sergii Londar, who emphasised that this year’s conference is taking place in a symbolic period – when the European educational network “Eurydice” celebrates its 45th anniversary. These are 45 years of tireless efforts aimed at making education in Europe more transparent, comparable and effective, bringing together knowledge, learning technologies and people. In his address, Sergii Londar stressed that the harmonisation of the Ukrainian education system with the European Education Area has not only an integration-related but also a practical significance, as the experience Ukraine is gaining during wartime has become an example of educational resilience and demonstrates the capacity of the national education system to maintain development, innovation and a European trajectory even in extremely difficult circumstances.

The welcoming part was continued by Nataliia Matsiievska, Leading Specialist of the School Education Sector, Department of Educational Statistics and Analytics of SSI “IEA”. In her address delivered in English, she thanked European partners for their continuous support of Ukraine and fruitful cooperation in joint projects, emphasising that the conference is intended not only to summarise accomplishments but also to become another step towards strengthening international partnership, exchanging knowledge and promoting European values in the development of Ukrainian education.

The plenary part of the conference was dedicated to current trends and challenges in the development of Ukraine’s education system, serving as a platform for professional discussion of strategic directions for its modernisation and for strengthening partnerships with European countries. Distinguished speakers included leading scholars and experts from various regions of Ukraine, who addressed a wide range of issues in their presentations, such as human capital development, education financing, psychological and pedagogical aspects of teacher activities, digitalisation and the use of artificial intelligence, professional development of educators, the European integration of Ukraine’s education area and other key areas of education policy.
